Integration of viscoelastic layers during injection molding

The project aims to develop technical solutions for the integration of viscoelastic damping layers in vibration-prone components made of thermoplastic materials in the 2K sandwich injection molding process. With the aid of a novel nozzle concept, the interlayer material is introduced into the mold cavity simultaneously and in a defined manner with the base material, so that the damping layer can be formed along the neutral fiber of the future molded part in just one injection molding production step.

As a prerequisite for this, compatible layer materials are to be identified, analyzed and dynamically-mechanically investigated and simulated in combination as a damping layer with regard to their damping properties.
