Financing support
Further training can sometimes come with very high costs. However, you or your company do not always have to bear these costs alone. The federal and state governments support training activities with various grants.
You can read an overview of the current subsidy programs here. Further links will help you to find and apply for the appropriate funding for yourself.
Promotion at the federal level
The federal government promotes individual continuing education activities through various programs. These are aimed at different groups of people and pursue different objectives.
- Continuing Education Scholarship
Who is supported?
- Persons up to 24 years of age who wish to acquire a vocational qualification following the successful completion of vocational training.
What is funded?
Funding for a measure is applied for before it begins. If the measure is eligible, you can receive subsidies for:
- Measure costs
- Travel costs
- accommodation costs
- necessary working materials
- examination costs
- IT bonus of €250 for the purchase of a computer in the first year of funding in connection with a measure.
In total, you will receive grants of €8,100 for as many eligible training courses as you wish, with a personal contribution of 10 percent per funding measure. The personal contribution does not reduce your total funding amount.

Who is eligible for support?
- Trainees with a justified need for support who are employed in chemical companies covered by collective agreements and generally have up to 750 employees.
What is supported?
- Measures that impart learning content that can be assigned to the training framework of the respective occupation.

Promotion at state level
In addition to the education premium, the federal states have various funding programs for your continuing education. Summarized here you will find all information about the funding conditions and contact details.
- Baden-Württemberg
Who is supported?
- Employed persons from small and medium-sized enterprises,
- Entrepreneurs, start-ups, freelancers,
- people wishing to start up a business and people re-entering the workforce with their place of residence, employment or company headquarters in Baden-Württemberg.
What is supported?
- Specialized courses of at least 8 to a maximum of 240 teaching units by subsidizing the participation fees.
- Older persons who have reached the age of 50 or older and employed persons without a vocational qualification receive a higher subsidy.
- Participants receive a subsidy of 30 to 70 percent on the course fee

Who is supported?
- Employees in small and medium-sized enterprises in all sectors,
- low-skilled and unskilled employees as well as
- Employees with supplementary benefits according to SGB II.
What is supported?
- Funding is provided across all topics in all industries
- Particular focus on topics such as digitization, the environment and sustainability
- The amount of funding depends on the target group and the content.
- Several vocational qualifications can be funded within the framework of qualification coaching.

Case A
- natural persons who are owners of a business, partnerships and legal entities under private law
Case B
- Companies in the commercial sector that produce goods or provide services that are actually or by their nature regularly sold on a supra-regional basis.
What is subsidized?
Case A
- Participation in continuing vocational training measures that make it possible to maintain, expand or acquire competencies and qualifications in a corporate context.
- Companies generally receive a subsidy of 50 percent of eligible expenses per education voucher, up to a maximum of €500 (a maximum of €3,000 can be granted for qualification-oriented training courses. If de minimis funding is applied for, the funding rate can be up to 75%).
Case B
- Company-specific measures (projects) for determining the competence of employees (consulting), for analyzing the qualification needs of the jobs in the company (consulting) or for professional qualification (training)
- a share of the funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant amounting in principle to 50% of the invoiced costs of the external service provider. The maximum funding can be up to €100,000 per funding case.

Who is supported?
- Employees and people returning to work as well as small companies with a maximum of 50 employees.
- Individuals who live or work in North Rhine-Westphalia and whose annual taxable income does not exceed €40,000 (or between €40,000 and €80,000 in the case of joint taxation).
What is subsidized?
- all further vocational training
- The education voucher includes a subsidy of 50% of the expenses for a further education measure, up to a maximum of 500 €.

Continuing education counseling in North Rhine-Westphalia
- Rhineland-Palatinate
Who is eligible?
- Employees with their main residence or place of work in Rhineland-Palatinate with an annual taxable income of more than €20,000 (joint taxpayers: €40,000).
- Employed persons with a lower income are only subsidized if the further training costs more than € 1,000 including VAT.
What is subsidized?
- job-related further training measures that serve to improve technical, methodological or social competence (job-related = further training that is in a professional context and serves to maintain employability)
- With the QualiScheck, 50% of the incurred further training costs (course and examination fees) are reimbursed. Other costs, such as teaching and learning materials, travel costs, accommodation and board costs are not eligible for funding .
- The maximum amount of funding is € 1,500 per person, per training course and per calendar year of reimbursement.

- Schleswig Holstein
Who is supported?
- Employed persons who work or live in Schleswig-Holstein
- Employees, trainees and owners of micro-enterprises as well as freelancers with less than ten employees.
What is supported?
- Job-related continuing education that serves to maintain or expand professional knowledge and skills.
- In addition to seminar costs for professional training, the program also covers measures for career advancement or for an intended career change.
- The Continuing Education Bonus Pro covers up to 40% of the course costs, up to a maximum of €1,500.
- Another condition: Eligible course costs, which also include fees for exams and teaching materials, must be at least €160.
