Formulation development and modified foam injection process for the production of lightweight injection-molded components

Increasing the lightweight construction potential of large-volume injection-molded components to displace operating media with greatly reduced low density approaching particle foam, more uniform cell distribution, improved surface and their process-safe production.

The aim of the ZIM cooperation project between Kurz Kunststoffe GmbH and the KUZ is thermoplastic foam injection molding of molded parts made of polyamide 6.6, whose density is to be significantly reduced. Challenges are the required high-quality surface, the homogeneity of the foam structure and the reduction of deposits on the injection mold.
