Rheology and Thermal Analysis

The description of the material properties of plastics is essential for the design of manufacturing processes and for quality assurance. Rheometric investigations can be used to characterize the flow and deformation behaviour of thermoplastic polymers and to better understand their structurally viscous behaviour during processing.

The thermal analysis test methods open up the possibility of revealing correlations between processing conditions, microstructure and material properties of plastics. This allows polymers to be identified and processing-related material damage to be recognized.

This seminar combines the theoretical principles of rheology and thermal analysis with practical demonstrations of the equipment in the laboratory and pilot plant. Specific practical application examples from the accredited test laboratory at the KUZ will be used to show what information can be obtained from the recorded measurement curves.
